Frelimo
Frelimo, or the Front for the Liberation of Mozambique, is a political party in Mozambique founded in 1962. It emerged as a liberation movement fighting against Portuguese colonial rule and played a crucial role in the country's independence, which was achieved in 1975. Frelimo has since been the dominant party in Mozambique's political landscape.
After independence, Frelimo transitioned from a liberation movement to a governing party. It has focused on socialist policies and national development, although it has faced challenges, including economic issues and political opposition. The party remains influential in shaping Mozambique's political and social policies today.
