Regional Commissions
Regional Commissions are organizations established by the United Nations to promote economic and social development in specific geographic areas. They provide a platform for countries within a region to collaborate on shared challenges, such as trade, environmental issues, and sustainable development. Each commission focuses on the unique needs and priorities of its member states. There are five main Regional Commissions:
Economic Commission for Africa (ECA)
,
Economic Commission for Europe (ECE)
,
Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC)
,
Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP)
, and
Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA)
. These commissions facilitate research, policy analysis, and capacity-building initiatives to support regional cooperation.
