Red-Throated Loon
The Red-Throated Loon is a medium-sized aquatic bird known for its distinctive red throat during the breeding season. It has a slender body, pointed bill, and a grayish-brown plumage that helps it blend into its surroundings. This species is commonly found in northern regions, particularly in North America and Eurasia, where it breeds in freshwater lakes.
During migration, the Red-Throated Loon travels to coastal areas for wintering. It is an excellent diver, feeding primarily on fish and invertebrates. The bird's haunting calls can often be heard echoing across the water, especially during the breeding season when they are most vocal.
