Red Phalarope
The Red Phalarope is a small shorebird known for its striking plumage. During the breeding season, males display bright red and gray feathers, while females are more colorful. These birds are typically found in the Arctic regions, where they nest on the ground near water.
In migration, Red Phalaropes can be seen in coastal areas and are known for their unique feeding behavior. They often spin in circles on the water's surface to create a vortex that brings small prey, such as zooplankton, to the surface. This distinctive feeding technique sets them apart from other shorebirds.
