Phalaropes
Phalaropes are small, wading birds belonging to the family Scolopacidae. They are known for their unique swimming abilities, often seen spinning in circles on the water's surface to stir up food. There are three species of phalaropes: the Red-necked Phalarope, the Wilson's Phalarope, and the Northern Phalarope.
These birds have a distinctive sexual dimorphism, where females are more colorful than males. Phalaropes breed in the northern regions and migrate to warmer areas during winter. They primarily feed on small invertebrates and are often found in wetlands, lakes, and coastal areas.
