Rattray Lighthouse
Rattray Lighthouse is located on the coast of Aberdeenshire, Scotland, near the village of Rattray. Built in 1895, it stands on a small island called Rattray Head, guiding ships safely through the treacherous waters of the North Sea. The lighthouse is notable for its distinctive red and white striped tower, which rises 26 meters above sea level.
The structure was designed by the engineer David Alan Stevenson, part of the famous Stevenson family known for their lighthouse designs. Rattray Lighthouse is automated and remains an important navigational aid for maritime traffic in the area, ensuring safe passage for vessels along the coastline.
