Rassemblement Constitutionnel Démocratique
The "Rassemblement Constitutionnel Démocratique" (RCD) was a political party in Tunisia founded in 1988. It emerged as a successor to the Democratic Constitutional Rally and aimed to promote democratic governance and constitutional reforms. The party played a significant role in Tunisian politics, especially during the presidency of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.
The RCD was the ruling party in Tunisia until the 2011 revolution, which led to its dissolution. The party was often criticized for its authoritarian practices and lack of genuine political pluralism. Following its disbandment, many former members sought to participate in the new political landscape of Tunisia.
