Radegund of Poitiers
Radegund of Poitiers was a 6th-century princess and a prominent figure in early Christian history. Born around 520 in Thuringia, she was married to King Clotaire I of the Franks but chose to leave her royal life to pursue a religious path. After escaping her marriage, she founded a convent in Poitiers, which became a center for women’s monastic life.
Radegund is known for her piety and dedication to the Christian faith. She was canonized as a saint, and her feast day is celebrated on August 13. Her life and work contributed significantly to the spread of Christianity in Gaul during the early Middle Ages.
