Gregory of Tours
Gregory of Tours was a 6th-century historian and bishop, known for his work "History of the Franks." Born around 538 AD in what is now France, he played a significant role in documenting the history of the Merovingian dynasty. His writings provide valuable insights into the social, political, and religious life of early medieval Europe.
As a bishop of Tours, Gregory was also involved in the church's affairs and the spread of Christianity. His historical accounts are among the earliest sources for understanding the transition from Roman rule to the rise of the Frankish kingdoms, making him an important figure in medieval historiography.
