RENAMO
RENAMO, or the Mozambican National Resistance, is a political and military organization in Mozambique. Founded in 1975, it initially opposed the ruling FRELIMO party during the country's civil war, which lasted from 1977 to 1992. RENAMO was supported by various foreign powers, including South Africa, and aimed to establish a multi-party democracy in Mozambique.
After the civil war, RENAMO transitioned into a political party and has participated in national elections. It has faced challenges, including internal divisions and accusations of violence. Despite this, RENAMO remains a significant player in Mozambique's political landscape, advocating for the interests of its supporters.
