R136
R136 is a massive star cluster located in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. It is home to some of the most luminous and massive stars known, including R136a1, which is one of the most massive stars ever discovered, with an estimated mass over 300 times that of the Sun.
The cluster is approximately 165,000 light-years away from Earth and is part of the 30 Doradus nebula, also known as the Tarantula Nebula. R136 plays a significant role in the study of stellar evolution and the formation of massive stars, providing valuable insights into the life cycles of such celestial bodies.
