Tarantula Nebula
The Tarantula Nebula is a large star-forming region located in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. It is about 161,000 light-years away from Earth and is one of the most active starburst regions known. The nebula gets its name from its spider-like appearance in images taken by telescopes.
Within the Tarantula Nebula, astronomers have discovered numerous young, massive stars and clusters, including the famous star cluster R136. This region is also home to a variety of complex structures, such as filaments and bubbles, created by the intense radiation and stellar winds from these newly formed stars.
