Queen Kapiʻolani
Queen Kapiʻolani was the wife of King David Kalākaua and served as the Queen of the Hawaiian Kingdom from 1874 until 1891. Born on December 31, 1834, she was known for her dedication to the Hawaiian people and culture. Kapiʻolani was a strong advocate for education and health, promoting various initiatives to improve the lives of her subjects.
She is also remembered for her efforts to preserve Hawaiian traditions during a time of significant change. After the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy in 1893, Kapiʻolani continued to support her people and the preservation of their heritage. Her legacy is honored in various ways, including the Kapiʻolani Park in Honolulu.
