Queen Anna Paulowna
Queen Anna Paulowna was a Russian princess born on January 18, 1795. She became the queen consort of the Netherlands after marrying King William II in 1816. Known for her cultural contributions, she played a significant role in promoting the arts and education in her adopted country.
Anna Paulowna was also instrumental in the establishment of the Royal Palace of Soestdijk and the Huis ten Bosch palace. She was a patron of various charitable organizations and was involved in the development of the Dutch floral industry, particularly the cultivation of tulips, which became a symbol of the Netherlands.
