William II
William II, also known as William Rufus, was the King of England from 1087 until his death in 1100. He was the third son of William the Conqueror and became king after the death of his brother, William I. His reign was marked by conflicts with the nobility and the church, as well as efforts to consolidate royal power.
William II is often remembered for his hunting expeditions and his interest in the New Forest, which he created as a royal hunting ground. He died under mysterious circumstances while hunting in the New Forest, leading to speculation about whether it was an accident or foul play. His death led to the ascension of his brother, Henry I.
