Queen Amélie
Queen Amélie was the last queen consort of Portugal, married to King Carlos I from 1886 until his assassination in 1908. Born on September 28, 1865, in Paris, France, she was the daughter of Prince Philippe, Count of Paris. Amélie became known for her charitable work and dedication to social causes during her time as queen.
After the assassination of her husband, Amélie and her family went into exile, living in various countries, including England and France. She returned to Portugal briefly in 1919 but spent most of her life away from her homeland, passing away on May 28, 1951, in Paris.
