King Louis Philippe
King Louis Philippe was the King of the French from 1830 to 1848. He came to power after the July Revolution, which overthrew the Bourbon monarchy. Known as the "Citizen King," he was a member of the House of Orléans and aimed to represent the interests of the bourgeoisie, or middle class, in France. His reign is often associated with a period of relative stability and economic growth.
However, Louis Philippe's popularity declined due to increasing social unrest and demands for political reform. By 1848, widespread discontent led to his abdication and the establishment of the Second Republic. His rule marked a significant shift in French politics, moving away from royal absolutism towards a more liberal government.
