Pukeko
The Pukeko, also known as the Purple Swamphen, is a large, colorful bird native to New Zealand and parts of Australia. It has striking blue and purple plumage, a red bill, and long, slender legs. Pukekos are often found in wetlands, marshes, and grasslands, where they forage for seeds, insects, and small invertebrates.
These birds are known for their distinctive calls and social behavior, often seen in groups. Pukekos build their nests in dense vegetation near water, using reeds and grasses. They are a common sight in New Zealand, where they are considered a symbol of the country's unique wildlife and natural beauty.
