Pterocarya stenoptera
Pterocarya stenoptera, commonly known as the Chinese wingnut, is a deciduous tree native to China and Korea. It typically grows to heights of 20-30 meters and features a broad, spreading crown. The leaves are pinnately compound, with each leaf consisting of several leaflets, giving it a lush appearance.
The tree produces distinctive winged fruits that resemble small nuts, which are dispersed by the wind. Pterocarya stenoptera thrives in moist, well-drained soils and is often found along riverbanks and in floodplains. It is valued for its ornamental qualities and is sometimes used in reforestation efforts.
