Prokopios
Prokopios, also known as Procopius, was a prominent Byzantine historian born around 500 AD. He is best known for his works, including the "Wars of Justinian," which details the military campaigns of Emperor Justinian I and provides insights into the Byzantine Empire during the 6th century. His writings are considered crucial for understanding the history and culture of this period.
In addition to military history, Prokopios wrote "The Secret History," a critical account of Justinian I and his wife, Theodora. This work offers a contrasting perspective to his more formal histories, revealing the political intrigues and personal scandals of the imperial court. Prokopios' contributions remain significant for historians studying the Byzantine era.
