Project 941 Akula
The Project 941 Akula, also known as the Typhoon-class submarine, is a class of nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines developed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Designed to carry intercontinental ballistic missiles, these submarines are among the largest in the world, featuring a unique double-hull design that enhances their stealth capabilities.
The Akula submarines are equipped with advanced sonar systems and can operate at great depths, making them difficult to detect. A total of six submarines were built, and they serve as a crucial part of the strategic nuclear deterrent forces for the Russian Navy today.
