Princess Sophie of Hohenberg
Princess Sophie of Hohenberg was born on March 1, 1875, in Vienna, Austria-Hungary. She was a member of the Hohenberg family, which was a branch of the Austro-Hungarian royal lineage. Sophie is best known for her marriage to Archduke Franz Ferdinand, whose assassination in 1914 sparked the beginning of World War I.
Sophie and Franz Ferdinand had three children: Princess Sophie, Maximilian, and Erzherzogin Elisabeth. Despite her noble status, Sophie faced challenges due to her marriage, which was morganatic, meaning she did not share her husband's rank. She died tragically alongside Franz Ferdinand in 1914.
