Princess Louise of Baden was born on September 3, 1838, in Baden-Baden, Germany. She was a member of the House of Zähringen and the daughter of Grand Duke Leopold of Baden and Princess Sophie of Sweden. Louise became known for her beauty and charm, and she was well-educated in the arts and languages. In 1857, she married Prince Friedrich of Prussia, who later became Emperor Friedrich III of Germany.
