Prince Louis of Battenberg
Prince Louis of Battenberg was a British naval officer and a member of the Battenberg family, born on May 25, 1854, in Austria. He served in the Royal Navy and held various important positions, including First Sea Lord. His contributions to the navy were significant during a time of modernization.
In 1917, during World War I, he changed his surname to Mountbatten due to anti-German sentiment in Britain. He was the father of Lord Louis Mountbatten, who later became the last Viceroy of India. Prince Louis passed away on September 11, 1921, leaving a lasting legacy in British history.
