Lord Louis Mountbatten
Lord Louis Mountbatten was a British naval officer and statesman, born on June 25, 1900. He served as the last Viceroy of India from 1947 to 1948, overseeing the transition of British India to independence and the creation of India and Pakistan. Mountbatten was a member of the British royal family and a cousin to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
In addition to his role in India, Mountbatten held various military positions during his career, including serving in World War II. He was known for his close relationship with Winston Churchill and played a significant role in naval operations. Mountbatten was assassinated in 1979 by the Irish Republican Army.
