Prince Hall Freemasonry
Prince Hall Freemasonry is a branch of Freemasonry that was founded in the United States in the late 18th century. It was established by Prince Hall, an African American man who sought to create a space for Black men to engage in the Masonic tradition, which was predominantly white at the time. The first lodge, named African Lodge No. 1, was formed in 1784 in Boston, Massachusetts.
Today, Prince Hall Freemasonry operates independently but shares many principles with mainstream Freemasonry, such as brotherhood, charity, and moral uprightness. It has grown to include numerous lodges across the United States and around the world, promoting community service and education among its members.
