President of Taiwan
The President of Taiwan is the head of state and government of the Republic of China (ROC), commonly known as Taiwan. This position is responsible for overseeing the executive branch, implementing laws, and representing Taiwan in international affairs. The president is elected by popular vote for a four-year term and can serve a maximum of two terms.
The current president, Tsai Ing-wen, took office in 2016 and is a member of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). The presidency plays a crucial role in shaping Taiwan's policies, especially regarding its relationship with China and other countries.
