President of China
The President of China is the head of state of the People's Republic of China. This position is largely ceremonial, with real power held by the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China. The President is responsible for representing China in diplomatic matters and signing laws and treaties.
The President is elected by the National People's Congress, which is China's top legislative body. The term length is five years, and a President can serve multiple terms. The current President, as of October 2023, is Xi Jinping, who has held the position since 2013 and is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party.
