President of Bulgaria
The President of Bulgaria is the head of state and serves as a key figure in the country's political system. Elected for a five-year term, the president represents Bulgaria both domestically and internationally. The role includes responsibilities such as signing laws, appointing ambassadors, and overseeing the armed forces.
The president also has the power to veto legislation and call for referendums. While the position is largely ceremonial, the president can influence political discourse and has a role in shaping national policy. The current president, as of October 2023, is Rumen Radev, who has been in office since January 2017.
