Presidency of Yugoslavia
The Presidency of Yugoslavia was the highest executive authority in the former socialist state of Yugoslavia, which existed from 1945 until its dissolution in the early 1990s. It was established to provide collective leadership among the six republics: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, and Serbia. The presidency operated on a rotating basis, with each republic's representative serving a one-year term.
The presidency was composed of a president and several vice-presidents, representing the different republics and autonomous provinces. This system aimed to balance power among the diverse ethnic groups within Yugoslavia. However, rising nationalism and political tensions eventually led to the breakup of the country and the dissolution of the presidency.
