Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana
The Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) is a flagship health insurance scheme launched by the Government of India in 2018. It aims to provide financial protection to low-income families by covering their medical expenses for secondary and tertiary healthcare services. Each eligible family can receive up to ₹5 lakh per year for hospital treatments, ensuring access to quality healthcare.
Under this scheme, beneficiaries can avail of cashless treatment at empaneled hospitals across the country. The initiative is part of the broader Ayushman Bharat program, which seeks to improve healthcare access and reduce out-of-pocket expenses for the economically vulnerable population.
