Portuguese colonizers
Portuguese colonizers were explorers and settlers from Portugal who established overseas territories during the Age of Discovery in the 15th and 16th centuries. They played a significant role in global trade, particularly in spices, sugar, and precious metals, and were instrumental in mapping new lands, including parts of Africa, Asia, and South America.
One of the most notable achievements of the Portuguese colonizers was the establishment of Brazil as a colony in 1500. They also founded several trading posts and colonies in India, Angola, and Mozambique, influencing local cultures and economies while often leading to conflicts with indigenous populations.
