Pope Boniface III
Pope Boniface III served as the head of the Roman Catholic Church from 607 to 608 AD. He is best known for his role in establishing the papacy's authority in Western Christianity. Boniface III was the first pope to use the title "Universal Bishop," which emphasized the pope's leadership over all bishops and the Christian community.
His papacy was brief, lasting only about a year, but it was significant in the context of the growing power of the papacy. Boniface III succeeded Pope Gregory I and was followed by Pope Boniface IV. His tenure marked an important step in the evolution of the papal office.
