The Pont Saint-Bénézet, also known as the Pont d'Avignon, is a famous medieval bridge located in Avignon, France. Originally built in the 12th century, it spans the Rhône River and was constructed to connect the town of Avignon with the surrounding regions. The bridge was an important crossing point for trade and pilgrimage.
Today, only four of the original 22 arches remain, as the bridge was damaged by floods and wars over the centuries. The Pont Saint-Bénézet is a UNESCO World Heritage site and attracts many visitors who come to admire its historical significance and picturesque views of the river and city.
