Pont Du Gard
The Pont du Gard is an ancient Roman aqueduct located in the south of France. Built in the 1st century AD, it was designed to transport water from the springs in the nearby town of Uzès to the city of Nîmes. The structure is renowned for its impressive three-tiered arches, standing about 50 meters high and spanning 275 meters in length.
This remarkable engineering feat is a UNESCO World Heritage site and attracts many visitors each year. The Pont du Gard showcases the advanced construction techniques of the Romans and remains one of the best-preserved aqueducts from antiquity.
