Pomo People
The Pomo People are a group of Native American tribes originally from Northern California. They traditionally inhabited areas around the Russian River and the Mendocino Coast. The Pomo are known for their rich cultural heritage, including basket weaving, which is considered one of their most significant art forms.
Historically, the Pomo People lived in small, semi-nomadic communities, relying on fishing, hunting, and gathering for sustenance. They spoke several distinct languages, all part of the Pomoan language family. Today, many Pomo descendants continue to preserve their cultural traditions while also engaging in modern economic activities.
