Polymerization Techniques
Polymerization techniques are methods used to create polymers, which are large molecules made up of repeating structural units called monomers. The two main types of polymerization are addition polymerization and condensation polymerization. In addition polymerization, monomers with unsaturated bonds react to form long chains, while in condensation polymerization, monomers join together with the release of a small molecule, often water.
These techniques can be further categorized into bulk polymerization, solution polymerization, suspension polymerization, and emulsion polymerization. Each method has its own advantages and is chosen based on the desired properties of the final polymer product, such as strength, flexibility, and thermal stability.
