Plaza de Mayo
Plaza de Mayo is a historic square located in the heart of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It has been the site of significant political events since the early 19th century, including the May Revolution of 1810, which marked the beginning of Argentina's independence from Spanish rule. The square is surrounded by important buildings, such as the Casa Rosada, the presidential palace, and the Metropolitan Cathedral.
The plaza is also known for its role in social movements, particularly the weekly gatherings of the Madres de Plaza de Mayo. These mothers, who protested for the disappearance of their children during the Dirty War, have made the square a symbol of human rights activism in Argentina.
