Player Efficiency Rating (PER)
Player Efficiency Rating (PER) is a basketball statistic developed by John Hollinger to measure a player's overall contribution to their team. It takes into account various performance metrics, including points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and turnovers, to provide a single number that reflects a player's efficiency on the court.
PER is normalized so that the league average is set at 15. A higher PER indicates a more efficient player, while a lower PER suggests below-average performance. This metric helps coaches, analysts, and fans evaluate players' effectiveness and compare their contributions across different games and seasons.
