True Shooting Percentage
True Shooting Percentage (TS%) is a basketball statistic that measures a player's scoring efficiency. It takes into account field goals, three-point shots, and free throws, providing a more comprehensive view of a player's ability to score. The formula for TS% is: TS% = Points / (2 * (Field Goals Attempted + 0.44 * Free Throws Attempted)).
This statistic is particularly useful because it adjusts for the different values of shots taken. For example, a three-point shot is worth more than a two-point shot, and free throws are often easier to make. By using TS%, coaches and analysts can better evaluate a player's overall scoring effectiveness.
