Platycerium
Platycerium, commonly known as staghorn ferns, are unique epiphytic ferns found in tropical and subtropical regions. They are characterized by their distinctive, antler-like fronds that resemble the horns of a stag. These ferns typically grow on trees, using their roots to anchor themselves while absorbing moisture and nutrients from the air and surrounding environment.
There are about 18 species of Platycerium, with Platycerium bifurcatum and Platycerium grande being among the most popular. They thrive in humid conditions and can be cultivated in gardens or as houseplants. Proper care includes providing indirect light and maintaining humidity to support their growth.
