Plant Fibers
Plant fibers are natural materials obtained from various parts of plants, including leaves, stems, and seeds. They are primarily composed of cellulose, a carbohydrate that provides strength and structure. Common examples of plant fibers include cotton, flax, and jute, which are widely used in textiles and other products.
These fibers can be classified into two main categories: bast fibers, which come from the inner bark of plants like hemp and ramie, and leaf fibers, derived from the leaves of plants such as sisal and pineapple. Plant fibers are valued for their durability, breathability, and biodegradability, making them environmentally friendly alternatives to synthetic materials.
