Philippine National Hero
The Philippine National Hero is José Rizal, a prominent figure in the country's history. He was a writer, doctor, and reformist whose works inspired the Philippine Revolution against Spanish colonial rule. His most famous novels, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, highlighted the social injustices faced by Filipinos and called for reforms.
Rizal's advocacy for peaceful change and education made him a symbol of nationalism. He was executed by the Spanish government on December 30, 1896, which further fueled the desire for independence among Filipinos. Today, he is celebrated annually on Rizal Day as a reminder of his contributions to the nation.
