Peter Sutcliffe
Peter Sutcliffe was a British serial killer, infamously known as the Yorkshire Ripper. He was active between 1975 and 1980, targeting women in northern England. Sutcliffe was convicted in 1981 for the murders of 13 women and the attempted murder of seven others. His crimes caused widespread fear and led to significant changes in police procedures.
Sutcliffe's trial revealed his troubled background and mental health issues. He was sentenced to 20 concurrent life terms in prison. Sutcliffe died in November 2020, while serving his sentence at Frankland Prison in Durham, England. His case remains a significant part of British criminal history.
