Peshtigo River
The Peshtigo River is located in northeastern Wisconsin, flowing through Marinette County. It is approximately 40 miles long and is known for its scenic beauty, making it a popular destination for outdoor activities such as fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. The river eventually empties into Green Bay, which is part of Lake Michigan.
The river is also historically significant due to the Peshtigo Fire of 1871, one of the deadliest wildfires in U.S. history, which occurred near its banks. Today, the area around the river is protected as part of the Peshtigo River State Forest, offering recreational opportunities and wildlife habitat.
