Peshtigo
Peshtigo is a small city located in Wisconsin, known for its historical significance due to the Peshtigo Fire of 1871. This devastating wildfire occurred on the same day as the more famous Great Chicago Fire, but it resulted in far greater loss of life, claiming around 1,500 lives and destroying the entire town.
Today, Peshtigo is home to the Peshtigo Fire Museum, which commemorates the tragedy and educates visitors about the fire's impact on the community. The city also celebrates its rich history through various events and maintains a close connection to the Peshtigo River, which is popular for outdoor activities.
