Persian leopard
The Persian leopard is a subspecies of leopard found primarily in the mountainous regions of Iran, Afghanistan, and parts of the Caucasus. It is known for its thick, beautiful coat, which helps it adapt to cold climates. This leopard typically has a lighter color and larger spots compared to other leopard subspecies.
Persian leopards are solitary animals, primarily active at night. They are skilled climbers and often hunt deer, wild boar, and smaller mammals. Due to habitat loss and poaching, the Persian leopard is classified as endangered, making conservation efforts crucial for its survival.
