Persian Constitutionalism
Persian Constitutionalism refers to the movement in the early 20th century that aimed to establish a constitutional government in Iran. It began with the Constitutional Revolution of 1905-1911, which sought to limit the powers of the monarchy and promote civil rights and political participation.
The revolution led to the establishment of the first Majlis, or parliament, in Iran, marking a significant shift towards modern governance. Despite facing opposition from conservative forces, the movement laid the groundwork for future political developments and the eventual establishment of a more democratic framework in the country.
