Pedro I of Portugal
Pedro I of Portugal, also known as Pedro I of Portugal and the Algarve, was born on April 8, 1320. He became king in 1357 and ruled until his death in 1367. He is often remembered for his romantic relationship with Inês de Castro, which became a significant part of Portuguese folklore.
During his reign, Pedro I focused on strengthening the monarchy and improving the legal system. He was known for his efforts to promote justice and was often called "Pedro the Just." His legacy includes the establishment of a more centralized government and the enhancement of royal authority in Portugal.
