Paulo Lins
Paulo Lins is a Brazilian author and screenwriter, best known for his novel "Cidade de Deus" (City of God), published in 1997. The book is a vivid portrayal of life in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro and explores themes of violence, poverty, and social inequality. It gained international acclaim and was adapted into a successful film in 2002, directed by Fernando Meirelles.
Lins was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1970 and grew up in the Cidade de Deus favela. His experiences in this environment greatly influenced his writing. In addition to "Cidade de Deus," he has written other works that delve into the complexities of Brazilian society and culture.
